Electricity is the energy that powers everything from your phone to lights. But what is it, really?

At the smallest level, electricity comes from tiny particles called electrons, which move around atoms. When electrons flow through materials like metal, they create an electric current. This current powers our devices.

Some materials, like copper, let electrons flow easily and are called conductors. Others, like rubber, block the flow and are called insulators.

Electricity is generated in power plants using coal, gas, or renewable sources like wind and sunlight. It’s an essential part of our daily lives, powering the modern world!
